Giving
“At Grace Harbor Church, we strive to give generously towards the cause of the Gospel.”
(All donations are tax deductible.)
Why we give?
The stewardship of our finances is a tremendous—and often overlooked—area of our lives where we can faithfully proclaim the gospel. Giving strengthens our devotion to Christ and frees us to live open-handedly with the gifts God gives us. We trust in Him and His provision instead of our perceived self-sufficiency. As people of faith, we give faithfully and generously.
And while we should give generously, our giving always flows as a result of our relationship with God, not as a way to earn it. We don’t give in order to gain God’s love, but we give because we’ve been loved. We are given grace through faith, therefore we graciously give in faith. We don’t even give in order to be given double or triple in return (at least not on this side of Christ’s return). We give freely with no expectations other than to see God glorified.
New Testament giving is
willing and cheerful (2 Corinthians 9:7),
a regular pattern of life (1 Corinthians 16:2),
proportionate to one’s ability (2 Corinthians 8:3),
generous (2 Corinthians 8:2–3; 1 Timothy 6:18), and
sacrificial (Mark 12:42–44; Acts 4:32; 2 Corinthians 8:3).
How much you should give is a personal conviction to lay before God. Pray for wisdom, study his word, and act in faith as God leads you by his Spirit and in the fellowship of the local church. The message to the materially rich may be, “To whom much was given, of him much will be required” (Luke 12:48). And to the materially poor, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Partner Churches and Businesses
It takes a tremendous amount of financial resources to start and sustain the public organization of a new church. Specifically, it is well reported that churches located in inner-city contexts, like New Bedford, take upward of 10 years or more before they become self sustaining. This is why Gospel-partnerships are a much needed ally in establishing a local church in New Bedford. We currently have a few other churches that give financially towards the ministry of Grace Harbor Church New Bedford, and are actively seeking more to partner together with us. If your church would consider partnering with us as part of your missions budget, we would love to have a conversation with you about that.
Additionally, it is not uncommon for businesses to give to charitable organizations for tax deductible purposes. If you own or work for a company that is looking for non-profit organizations to partner with in this way, we would love to talk to you as well about how your company could do this and the purpose that it would serve.
