one-2-one discipleship

“There is so much beauty in walking alongside another person learning to pray and read God’s word. It felt like a safe place for me to grow in my faith.”

As part of Jesus’ final instructions to his disciples… his parting words were “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to do everything I have commanded you.”

By ourselves, this command can seem overwhelming. But when we pursue it as God intended, in the context of biblical community, we quickly begin to learn that God’s ways are in fact understandable. And the way we begin to understand his ways is by reading and praying the bible.

This is how one-2-one discipleship serves the local church and builds believers up into full

maturity. We want everyone to know how to read and feed themselves spiritually in God’s word, as well as pray to God as he intended us to do.

So, this happens by pairing Christians together, them meeting on a regular basis, and one helping the other learn how to understand the bible, helping explain what it looks like to follow what was read, and then how to pray according to what was studied. This friendship naturally leads to mutual realness with one another and accountability.

Christians were never met to live in isolation away from one another but rather in fellowship and love for one another.

Discipleship and accountability should be important to every believer that values their faith, growth, and walk with Christ. How can we achieve this without other believers walking with us and speaking truth to us?
